Adam Sobel Week 22 - Games

I love to play all types of games: video games, card games, and board games. Games offer many different advantages, such as competition, planning, strategy, and co-operation. They are great for playing with friends, family, by yourself, or competitively, and each game is different enough to make each play-through fun.

I have a lot of different types of video games because there are so many different varieties of video games. My favorite open world game is probably Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. This game has an expansive land to explore and different quests and side quests to follow to defeat the final boss. But the best part is that you can play the game at your own pace and solve whatever puzzles you want whenever as you gain new abilities and weapons. I also love creative games like Minecraft because of the possibilities that you can accomplish in the game, and multiplayer games like Rainbow Six: Siege, Warthunder, and Halo Inifinite are great to play because you get to practice strategy and hang out with friends at the same time.

I have a lot of favorite card games that I play. Many of you might've seen me play Magic the Gathering with some of my friends in school, which combines strategy and imagination into cards. There are also many different types of play styles, like aggressive decks, control decks, lifelink decks, token decks, etc. Because of the many different types of strategies, the game never gets boring because no two games are ever really the same. I also love to play normal card games because of the memories that I have with them. I play a card game called 99 that I learned at camp because I have a lot of positive memories associated with the game from playing so many times with my friends. I also love to play gin because I used to play with my grandpa who would teach me how to get better and tell me stories about his youth and how he got good at playing the game, too.

I also love to play board games a lot. I particularly like chess because of how complex the game is. Any move that you make has both positive and negative changes on the board, even if they were unintentional. You have to pay attention every second and prepare nearly 10 moves in advance in order to outwit your opponent. I also love games like Othello and Monopoly because of the strategy involved in these games. Board games have a lot of strategy in them which is why they are some of my favorite games. They always help me learn to become a better strategist and more prepared in both the games and everyday life.

What kind of games do you like to play?
