Companies Cutting Ties With Russia
As the horrific and devastating war Russia has put on Ukraine goes on, Russia continues to gain isolation in the modern world through big companies cutting ties with the nation. The objective of this isolation is to deprive Russia economically in order to limit Putin's ability to fight in the war; ultimately, stopping the war. Today, March 8th, the London-based major oil industry company, Shell, announced they would no longer buy and import oil from Russia. Shell also came out to say they would most likely cut "links" and ties to the country entirely. Popular fast-food chain restaurants McDonald's and Starbucks Corp are also cutting ties with Russia as they are"temporarily closing hundreds of restaurants in Russia." In order to combat unemployment, McDonalds will go on to pay off its 62,000 employees' salaries. Some of the biggest beverage companies have also somewhat cut ties with and in Russia. Soft-drink and snack maker PepsiCo has suspended all advertising in Russia, and they have also stopped the sales of their drink brands in Russia. PepsiCo's rival, Coca-Cola, has done similarly as they have suspended all business in Russian land.
The West continues to try and isolate Russia and deprive Russia of its economy in the hope to achieve peace between Ukraine and Russia. It is clear no other country or nation wants war at this time as they already have their own problems during this troublesome time. Hopefully, these companies which are cutting their ties with Russia are successful in their objective, and maybe World War III will be for another time period. Do you think this tactic will work out effectively? Why or why not? Is there any other way to limit war in a more effective manner?

I feel like there is pros and cons to strictly cutting off any ties and connections to Russia. Shell is trying to get involved in and promote peace which I think is the right thing to do in this situation.
