Lindsey Maschler Week 19: San Diego

The other week I was in San Diego, California with my mom. My mom and I used to go on trips a lot before Covid started, so it was very nice to spend time with her in a place neither of us have been to.

We went to the children’s pools in la Jolla, which was a spot where parents would take their kids since it was a section of the beach closed off in rocks. Over time, fewer kids started to occupy the beach, and harbor seals started to take over. So when we went, there were about fifty seals hanging out on the beach, and fifteen playing in the water, and they were absolutely adorable.

We also went to Sunset Cliffs, which was breathtaking, especially during the sunset. There was also a cave, and if you went during negative tide you were able to explore. Speaking of caves, we went to was Sunny Jim’s Sea Cave, which was a cave used to smuggle alcohol during the prohibition, which was also beautiful. There was also a baby sea lion in the cave, which is a rare sighting in this area.

Of course, we also had to go to the San Diego Zoo, and Sea World. The zoo was really fun, and we got to see Polar Bears in person. At Sea World, we got to see walruses, which was really cool considering that there are only twelve in the United States.

I am also going to San Diego in July, so both my mom and I are super excited to go back since we loved it so much.

Have you been to San Diego?

Comments

  1. I have been to San Diego before and have always had so much fun when I go. I wish I was in California the other week just like you, but hopefully, I will go soon since my mom loves to travel with me as well.

  2. This summer I am going to San Diego for the first time with my family. I don't think we were planning to do too much in San Diego besides the zoo because we are also spending time in Los Angeles, but many of the activities you went to look very exciting, so I might suggest to do them on my trip.

  3. I have never been to San Diego before, but after reading this I want to go now. It sounds really fun, and exciting. The cave sounds crazy cool. I'm definitely going to ask my parents if we could go sometime this summer or at least sometime soon.
