Atara Berkower - Week 8 - Spring tennis season

Every school year, I look forward to Spring because that is when the tennis season comes around. Freshman year, the tennis season got cut short because of Covid 19. My last tennis match on the Posnack tennis team in freshman year was against Donna Klein. It was my favorite season because my team was so close and it felt like we were a true team. Last year’s tennis season was the highlight of the “Corona year”. Since school was so limited and almost nobody attended in-person school, the only exciting thing was having a tennis season. It felt like Corona did not exist when we practiced and competed unlike the regular academics in school.

This year’s tennis season has gone by so fast. We are already halfway through the season. So far the girl’s team has only lost one match and the boy’s team is still undefeated. It is not the same this year because we do not meet for practice as often as we used to and we have not had as many matches. Many matches keep getting rained out and postponed and therefore we have not been able to meet as a team as often. I am looking forward to the second half of the season because we are playing better teams and will get more competitive matches. After our last tennis match, we attend the District tournament. The District tournament lasts for 2 days and we get to miss school and play multiple matches until we lose.

Spring is my favorite time of the year because of the tennis season. What is your favorite season of the year and why?

Comments

  1. I like winter the most because I have the most events then with family birthdays, anniversaries, and other holidays or events. I also like the tennis team, though, and thought it was an exciting end to the very boring 10th grade year because of COVID.

  2. My favorite season is fall because it has the best holidays, scents, and overall vibes. I also love how the weather is coldish and rainy.
