Rosalie Weiss- Week 5- The Queen Tests Positive for Covid
On February 20, 2022, Queen Elizabeth II tested positive for Covid-19. It was reported that she was experiencing “mild cold symptoms” but plans to continue lighter duties at Winsdor castle by the next week. She is not the first royal to have tested positive for the virus, with Prince Charles testing positive for the second time just 10 days before the queen. She is currently receiving medical attention and is following proper Covid guidelines. The news of the queen's infection came days before England’s plans to drop all Covid restrictions.
The Queen was born on April 26, 1926, and is currently 95 years old. Because of her age, she is at a higher risk of severe symptoms and death. The queen is known to have had her first vaccine in January of 2021, and is believed to have had her follow-up shots as well. England’s prime minister Borris Johnson responded to the news of the queen's infection with the virus, wishing her a “swift recovery from Covid and a rapid return to vibrant good health".
While I am an American, I still feel a connection to the queen and can't imagine life without her. She is such an iconic figure that has shaped pop culture in ways no one else could. Even though the queen is almost 96, she has so much to live for and so many more cute hats to wear. I send my thoughts and prayers to the queen and wish her a speedy recovery. How do you feel? Do you think the queen will make it? Do you also wish for her to get well soon?
I hope she gets better soon! Sending my thoughts to her, and I am glad she only has mild cold symptoms.
ReplyDeleteI think (or at least hope) that the queen will make it through covid. I agree that she is an iconic figure and it seems that she can live through almost anything.
ReplyDeleteThe Queen is such an iconic figure for everyone around the world. I think she will be fine, but I am still sending my thoughts and prayers to her. Thankfully she is vaccinated, so she is much less likely to have severe symptoms.
ReplyDeleteI was very upset when I found out that the queen tested positive for Covid. I agree with you, I think that she is such an iconic and influential figure in the world and I hope she has a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteSince the queen is older it is scary for her to get the virus. I hope she gets through this which I think she will because she is relatively healthy for her age.
ReplyDeleteI hope the queen gets through Covid and has a speedy recovery. It's a bit scary that she has covid because since she's older and I couldn't imagine what would happen to the world without her. Hopefully she gets well soon!
