Over the weekend, on Sunday, my cousin Nicole had her wedding. She married a smart and successful lawyer by the name of Ben. One of my interests is actually law, but I'm not sure if I'll be a lawyer when I get older. Anyways, the wedding was at 5:30 p.m, Sunday, and in Miami. Before I say anything else, the wedding was incredible. It was one of the greatest experiences I got to have in my life, and it felt very unifying. I felt as if everyone around me was interconnected, even our lifelong loyal Rabbi, Rabbi Freedman. Everything went so very well, and it was an event that I'm sure my cousin Nicole and her new husband Ben will never in their lives forget a detail of. However, I'm not a big fan of the cold weather as I'm a South Florida boy. And to say the wedding took place on a chilly day is an understatement, and that's because it was freezing.

The wedding was at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens on the shore of Miami. It was such a beautiful location, and it probably cost a fortune. The food was some of the best food I've ever had in my life; they had anything you could imagine. They were cooking the food right in front of our eyes, and that's just for the appetizers! To be honest though, for some reason the appetizers are always better than the actual entrees in weddings. Is that just me? At this wedding, it was the same case, but the chicken I was served was still really flavorful and great. But enough of the food, let me talk about the freezing cold weather.

It was 54 degrees outside during the wedding. Most people brought sweaters and coats to put on top of their suits and dress clothes, but I didn't. Some people even brought gloves, but I didn't. You know what though? I should've. I was wearing dress pants and a button-down black dress shirt, and I was freezing the entire time. Since when did winters in Florida get this cold? I feel like this year, winter has gotten so much colder than usual. For the first time, we actually need to worry about the cold for consecutive weeks in Florida. I was literally trying to warm myself up with the placed candles around the tables by putting my hands over the flame as if it was a bonfire. When the wind started to come in from the beach, I was in true pain. If it isn't obvious enough, I really don't do well in the cold. On the other side, the hot side, I can handle that somewhat well. I'm used to playing so much basketball outside during the summer, so I can handle 90 degrees of heat. But in order to combat the cold during the wedding, I drank lots of hot drinks. Thankfully, there was tea, coffee, and hot chocolate being served. I don't like coffee all too much so I had a couple of cups of both tea and hot chocolate, and they both helped tremendously. Besides the cold weather, I wouldn't say that I disliked anything about the wedding; it was truly an amazing experience.

How do you handle cold weather? Do you prefer the hot or the cold, and why? What's the perfect temperature for outdoor activities?

  1. I prefer the warm! Living in the cold is brutal and prevents you from doing outdoor activities. I love when it gets cold in Florida for only a few days because it gives me a break from the heat.
