Michael Hakim Week 2 - Why am I So Tired?

I don’t know what it is, but I have been exhausted recently. Every day after school since break has ended I have taken a nap in my bed. Though these after-school naps hit differently sometimes, it is annoying in a way, as whenever I nap, I can’t fall asleep that night. This then leads to a chain reaction, which ends up resulting in me getting less sleep, and being late to school because I was so tired. This lack of sleep makes me want to sleep again the next day, and the cycle repeats itself.

Every day in school I have to fight with myself to prevent myself from falling asleep. The second I sit in a class, I immediately think about resting my head on my desk and getting in a quick power nap. However, I obviously can’t do this, because I have to pay attention in class, but sometimes, I really wish I could.

The hardest thing for me lately has been waking up for school. Ever since I have moved houses, I have been late almost every day. Now that I live a bit farther from school, I am required to wake up even earlier than normal. Every morning, my dad comes into my room to wake me up at around 6:30. This doesn’t really do much, though, as I usually struggle to get out of bed at this point. I end up normally getting up around 10 minutes before leaving for school, skipping breakfast in order to make sure I get myself in at least some sort of a good state for school. I know this is normal teenager stuff, but it is still annoying regardless.

Is it the cold weather? Maybe. Is it the insane amount of work I’ve been getting? Who knows? All I know, though, is that I’ve been really really sleepy.

Have you also been feeling tired lately? What have you done in order to combat this?
