Ben Heller Week 4- School is Tiring
Ben Heller Week 4- School is Tiring
February 14, 2022
I don’t know if anyone else feels like this, but school is getting kind of tiring. It’s probably because I’ve had to start staying here until 6 for most of the week, but I feel it’s kind of hard to focus on anything and do my homework once I get back home. School is just too long. If you think about it, it’s kind of a stupid concept. We spend the first half of our day in school, learning in classes. Then we come home and spend whatever’s left of the day doing homework before getting between 1 and 1 ½ hours of freetime (for those of us who go to sleep at a reasonable hour). I really don’t like that that’s the way we have to live our lives just to be good students. This is supposed to be the best time of our lives. We’re supposed to make lifelong friendships and live experiences we’ll never forget. Meanwhile, we’re stuck studying for ACTs that measure a minute amount of information we’ve learned. Meanwhile we sit in class when we could be out with our friends. Meanwhile we learn about things that have no bearing on what we want to do with our lives. The only bright prospect in our future being when we get to leave for college and all the freedom that comes with it. Hopefully, some of you have found a balance- a balance between work and fun. Unfortunately, I’m still trying to figure that part out. Something’s clear though, something has got to change. We need to change the way we’re educated. In other countries, students get lunch breaks that last hours, and come back later in the day for a few hours to finish school. Imagine what a few hours of freedom would do. Hopefully, one day we’ll get there.

I completely agree with everything you are saying. A few hours off from school would benefit me because after lunch ends, I am still as tired as I was before lunch. I need like 3 hours to go home and take a quick nap and come back to school. Hopefully, things can change, but I don’t really see that ever happening.
ReplyDeleteI also completely agree with the fact that school is tiring and way too long. I was talking about this to my mom the other day and saying how I am just bunt out, and I still have so much more to do before I am able to get a break. I do think that things are going to change, but unfortunately we will not be in school anymore for when they do.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you Ben. School has been extra exhausting recently. It is hard to find balance between free time and school. It honestly sucks that school has to be our top priority at the moment because, like you said, this is supposed to be the time of our lives where we act like stupid teenagers having fun.
ReplyDeleteI agree, school is exhausting with having to weak up insanely early, go to school learn and having to stay awake for 6 hours, then teachers proceeding to give a lot of homework, which is just extra time consuming work for us to do till it is really late, so we end up going to bed late because of the work we need to get in on time, therefore, making us tired and more tired every day when the week goes by.
