Avital Horowitz - Week 3 - Nonprofit uses Super Bowl party to help the homeless

Filmmaker and social media influencer, Meir Kay, started a nonprofit called “Super Soul Bowl”. Kay’s nonprofit is to come together and watch the Super Bowl to help the homeless. His idea first sparked after Kay had a conversation with a homeless man. They spoke about how the Super Bowl has turned into something sort of a national holiday. Kay thought it would be a good idea to start this nonprofit for those who don’t have friends or family to spend time with on Super Bowl Sunday. 

Kay threw his first super bowl party in 2017. He invited some homeless people from the neighborhood to his party. The next year, people started asking Kay how they could help with his new idea. After some time, interest started to grow tremendously, so he decided to start the nonprofit to try to get sponsors. Today, “Super Soul Bowl” has five sponsors. You may be wondering, “why does this nonprofit need five sponsors for a few pizzas and some drinks?” Well, these parties have much more than just pizza and drinks. Kay hired barbers and mental health counselors for the homeless in order to help them. He also gives out hygiene care and clothing gift bags. 


Kay will be hosting a whole 35 super bowl parties for the 2022 super bowl. The parties will take place in multiple cities around the United States. Kay is hoping to grow his nonprofit even further and even continue the idea of sporting event parties to other sports, like soccer.

    I think this is a great idea, and I think that it is great to know that people like this exist. Things like these give me hope for humanity's future!

    Meir Kay is doing a great job to give homeless people the opportunity to watch the Super Bowl. It also gives homeless people the opportunity to forget about their living conditions and live life how a normal person would. This non-profit organization is really great.

    This is such a beautiful idea and works so nicely with that I wrote about in my blog where people really need to open their hearts to the world and radiate love.

    I think that this idea is wonderful. Not only is he offering a celebration for everyone, he is helping people with hygiene, food, clothing, and mental health that may not be offered these things on a daily basis. And I think it was great of him to continue doing this and expanding his nonprofit instead of just doing it once and then forgetting about it.

    I think this idea that Meir Kay came up with is a very well thought out idea that will help our world and especially in the future. This non profit organization will help millions and I hope this organization continues to grow and make a change in this world.

  Ariella Green Week 7: The Airport      Don’t ya hate going to the airport?       I absolutely can not stand going to the airport. As I’m sure most of you know, I am very organized and like to plan out everything. When things don’t go according to the plan, it stresses me out.       Thursday morning, I assumed I would have an easy experience flying from PBI to JFK on JetBlue airlines.
