Atara Berkower - Week 2 - Minimester is here!
Minimester is here!
Minimester is here!! I have never been to DKJA’s minimester. I am hoping to use it as a time to learn about real-life things like cooking and baking. We do not get to learn real-world things that we should know during the regular school year. Minimester gives us the opportunity to learn about important day-to-day things. I signed up for cupcake decorating, Challah bake, chess, how to play Backgammon, Marine boot camp, bodyweight exercising, and business and entrepreneurship. I am interested in all of these things because it will improve those skills for when I need them after high school.
Schools should offer these courses as electives so that students get a feel for these fields. After high school, we will be living on our own and will have to cook, clean, and care for ourselves. As for me, I would like to do something in the business field when I get older. I take advantage of the business club because I learn from the speakers how they run their businesses and the first step they took to become successful. Minimester taught me that in the Entrepreneurship and business class.
Mrs. Joseph’s Challah bake is really important because it will teach everyone how to bake Challah for Shabbat. I will eventually have to do that when I live on my own. Mrs. Millers bodyweight exercising minimester will teach me how to exercise when I do not have any materials to do so. Finally, chess and backgammon minimesters are important because the games teach us strategies and exercise our brain.
Overall, Minimester is extremely beneficial to us because it teaches us skills that we would most likely not learn on a regular basis.
