Rosalie Weiss- Week 1- Amy Schneider breaks record for second-most consecutive Jeopardy wins

Oakland trans woman wins big on 'Jeopardy!'

After winning her 39th game of Jeopardy this Monday, Amy Schneider passed Matt Amodio’s streak, claiming the title for second-most consecutive Jeopardy wins. The top spot is held by the current host of Jeopardy, Ken Jennings, who won an impressive 74 consecutive games back in 2004. As of now, the engineering manager from Oakland California has collected $1,319,800 after winning 39 games.

Amy Schneider was the first woman to pass $1 million in winnings on the show and the first transgender contestant to qualify for the tournament of champions, where she will face off against Matt Amodio. In a message to Amodio, who ended his run on Jeopardy with $1,518,601 after winning 38 games, Schneider says that “it's going to be an honor playing against you, and it's going to be a tight competition.” She admitted that she is "definitely looking forward to" but is also "a little bit intimidated" to go up against the former champion.

After a long day of school, I always enjoy sitting with my mom, yelling wrong answers at the tv, and watching Amy Schneider destroy her opponents by tens of thousands of points almost every game. Amy is one of my favorite Jeopardy contestants as she is smart but not conceded, making her easy to love and root for. I hope that she continues her streak and possibly gets the chance to earn the top spot for the most consecutive Jeopardy wins.

Are you a fan of Amy? Do you think she will go further in the competition?

  2. When I was reading about "Amy Schneider", I mixed up the name with the actress Amy Schumer, so I thought that Amy Schumer was just doing really well on Jeopardy, a show I haven't watched since Alex Trebek passed.
