Week 8- My taste in Music
Week 8- My Taste in Music
A lot of my friends think I have bad taste in music, because over the years my playlists have included Frank Sinatra, musical theater music, and obscure Israeli music. Because of this, people, especially my friends, box me into this category where I can only like certain types of music, and anything modern or new is something I wouldn’t like. It’s something that I resent because I actually like many different types of music, and am always looking for something new. What usually happens to me is that I start listening to a new playlist over and over again, until I can’t stand listening to it. It’s like wringing out a cloth full of juice to squeeze out the last of it. Afterwards, I can’t stand to listen to my music, and I need something new.
Luckily, my friends have really diverse taste in music, and I’m able to hear new stuff from them. It’s also been really surprising to me to find out that I can also enjoy listening to rock music, and even rap music. Having my musical taste change so much over the years has taught me that people change a lot, and music that I once thought was just empty noise can be really intricate and can tell a story. I feel very privileged to be able to listen to a lot of different types of music. How has your taste in music changed over the years?

Ben, I want you to know that there is nothing wrong with a little Frank Sinatra. I actually have a whole playlist dedicated to him! For me, I went from listening to pop to rap, and now I'm a full on hip-hop-head. It's escalated so far that I now make my own rap beats, as I'm sure you've heard consider how I'm always blasting them!
ReplyDeleteI used to only listen to rap, but now I actually switch between rap and Frank Sinatra. I usually listen to Frank Sinatra on the way to school in the morning.
