School Birthdays Adi Chaham- week 11
Have you ever experienced that feeling of waking up early and getting ready for school on your birthday? Well, I have not.
My entire life I have been deprived of this experience and left wondering what it really feels like to have school on your birthday. As a child living in America with a birthday on December 31st, New Years Eve, I have never had school on my birthday since this day is considered a holiday. When I was younger, seeing everyone get a birthday crown and have the entire class sing happy birthday while handing out cake was something I always wanted.
Recently, I have wondered what my birthday would be like if I did have it on a school day. I can just imagine waking up in the morning at 6:30am to my entire family singing happy birthday to me. While still half asleep, my mom tells me it's time to wake up and go to school. Super not excited to go to school but happy it's my birthday, I get dressed and ready to go to school. I probably straightened my hair, maybe did some french or dutch braids or something like that. Leaving for school, I grab my lunchbox, backpack and head out the door, already ready to come back home.
Walking into school, with my birthday outfit, I come in with a kinda happy mood but not excited for the enormous amount of homework I will have after school. I walk in and the first thing I see is the tv that says Happy Birthday to Adi Chaham on 12/31 from the entire RHS community and knowing that sometime throughout that day everyone will get that text that says the exact same thing, I get kinda embarrassed. Throughout the day, some of my classes sing happy birthday to me while I lay on my desk in embarrassment, ready for this supposed to be “happy” day to end. Finally, school is over and I head home ready to celebrate with my family.
Even though this doesn't sound like the most exciting and fun way to celebrate the first half of your birthday and the majority of your day, it’s an experience that I would like to have just once in my life but I never will.
Maybe I would hate it if I did have school on my birthday. But then again, maybe I wouldn’t. Anyways, I will never know!
Are you someone who never has their birthday on a school day? If so, would you want to see what it would be like if you had school on your birthday? Are you someone who does have school on their birthday? If so, what does your day look like? Do you enjoy having school on your birthday?
I haven't had my birthday on a school day in awhile, but I definitely don't mind when I do. There's something special about being able to see all of your friends on your birthday.
ReplyDeleteAs someone with a summer birthday, I have never been able to celebrate my birthday in school either. I like having my birthday in camp, especially one summer when the calendar coincided perfectly and I got to go on a trip to Disney on my birthday, but I am a little sad I have never been able to celebrate in school. The thing I miss the most about it were those good cookies we got in lower school.
