Maya Garaway Week 9: Family Events
I sometimes think that everyone has that one part of the family that is slightly more chaotic than the rest. Well, I think that might have been my side of the family at my cousin's bat mitzvah. You're welcome.
For the first time since the beginning of covid, most of my mom’s side of the family was able to come together for little Jordan’s Bat Mitzvah. The celebration was small and the invited guest list was split almost exactly half into the family that I knew and the other side of my cousin's family. Immediately when we all saw each other, we all got along like normal despite the time and age differences amongst us. We all stayed glued to each other throughout the services and dinner. Throughout the night, my family managed to behave like Oompa Loompas, place bets on the celebration, and split a pair of pants all before 8:00 pm. I wish I was joking with that sentence.
Even though my family is very spread out through multiple states, we all try to stay as close as possible. Events like these are able to remind us of the great times we all share together. It was really weird to see everyone after such a long time, especially my little cousin Max who was a baby the last time I saw him but is now walking, but we all valued these moments. Events like these show the bonds and connections in families and I hope I can see my family again sooner than later.
I can see where you're coming from with the whole two sides of the family thing. For me, both sides of my family are pretty funny, but my dad's side is for sure more goofy. Immature events and times like these are the best in my opinion because they give me a great giggle and create a solid memory.
ReplyDeleteI have definitely had a similar experience to you when my dad split his pants at one of my cousins bar mitzvahs. I have bonded with a lot of my family during events like these too.
