Lindsey Maschler Week 7: Traveling

One of my mom’s goals on her bucket list is to visit every US state, as well as wanting to visit as many countries as possible. Because of this, my family travels a lot. I have a twin brother, so when my parents were trying to figure out places to visit, they only had to consider places for kids the same age, rather than trying to find places for a couple of different ages.

Traveling has made my family a lot closer, but the one thing that really benefitted from this was my brother and me. Even though we are twins, we have always been the complete opposite. He likes the mornings, whereas I am more of a night person. Or even the shows and movies I watch are different from the few ones he watches since he does not really like watching shows or movies.

We have always been both very busy due to after-school activities or plans with friends, so we barely see each other. We even go to different schools,  so he leaves before me in the mornings, and comes home later than me, so during the week we barely see each other. But when we travel, we obviously talk on the plane because there is nothing else to do, and we get along more than we do at home. We also share very fun memories by going to incredible places and doing new things.

Because of the pandemic, we have not been able to travel as much as we would have wanted to. There has been a lot of trips I was looking forward to that got canceled, such as going to Greece and helping out with the local charities. These help the local sea turtles by sleeping on the beach in tents and taking data on them during hatching season. As a family, we were going to go to New Zealand, which I was looking forward to for about 2 years prior. Where is your favorite place you’ve been to? Did any of your trips get canceled to do Covid-19?
