Liam Meldung, Week 8 - Tests!!!

School has been making me go crazy. There are tests every five seconds, I have so much work to do, each class assigns a crazy amount of homework on top of that, and I still have to prepare myself for my ACT.

It feels like everything is happening all at once. Also, lately I feel like my tests have been getting worse and worse. My brain is so full and hasn’t had a break in forever that I am having trouble focusing and performing as well as I want to and could on these tests.

For example, today I took my AP Chem test, and I felt so prepared I spent all the night before studying, I went to Mrs. Leibowitz spent the whole lunch period asking her questions, and I watched these videos on College Board, and still I had a hard time. It sucks even more when you feel so prepared for the test you’re about to take and then the test is handed to you and you start to struggle. I started mixing up formulas, overthinking, and second guessing myself the whole time. It was a nightmare. All I could do was laugh it off, and hope for the best.

I have an AP Calc test tomorrow, and I am hoping I will be able to do better and feel better about it than my Chem one today. I am going to study and make sure I can do it forwards and backwards, but we’ll see what happens on the test. I hope I don’t have a brain fart and forget everything I studied today.

How do you guys study and learn the material for your tests? How do you stay calm during a test and not completely scramble?

  1. I understand where you are coming from in how it is hard to study for tests, get homework done, and study for act and sat. I have just found my real source of how to study for tests. I rewrite all of the material by making basically a new study guide for myself. This way, as I am writing down the information, I am also memorizing it. I always have to prepare myself before the test and reassure myself that I know this and that I got this. While taking the physical test, I just try to stay the most calm and not get distracted by anything around me.

  2. I definitely get how you feel. I often take tests and then zone out for so long staring at nothing and thinking about nothing. Studying has also become harder because there are so many classes and tests to prepare for and it can get very difficult and overwhelming sometimes.
