Liam Meldung, Week 7 - Halloween Horror Nights
I went to Universal's Halloween Horror Nights a few weeks ago and I had so much fun! The entire park was completely different. The rides were pretty much all shut down and the whole place had huge lights flashing, “30 years, 30 fears”, and the loud rock music to fit the mood and excitement everyone was sharing.
When my friends and I got there we wanted to get in a haunted house as soon as we could, we were so excited we couldn’t wait. The first house we went to was the bride of Frankenstein, since it was my first time and my adrenaline was so high, I was super scared of it, but I made it out alive. We spent the next four to five hours going from one house to the next, and some scare zones and rides in between. If anyone wants to know, a scare zone is when there is a specific theme for a specific area in the park, and the actors walk around and can come at you anytime, of course they can’t touch you or anything, but when they suddenly move right next to you it's pretty terrifying.
We went through ten haunted houses. As we went through each house they got less and less frightening because we had gotten used to the sudden creepy figures jumping out at you from different corners of the room.
A big reason we were so excited about horror nights was because we had seen the show “The Haunting of Hill House” together and what do you know, they were basing one of their haunted houses off the show. We saved the best for last, which did make the room less frightening, but it wasn’t only that. The house was not what I expected, my friends had different opinions. I couldn’t wait to see all the spooky characters and scenes from the show that I loved, but instead I wasn’t really scared, and I thought it wasn’t as good as I expected. The characters were not presented super well, the scenes they decided to bring to life were not right in your face which makes it super scary. Out of all the houses I say it was the eighth most exciting, scary, and well done house there.
By the end of the night (2 a.m.) we were exhausted and our legs were killing us. We walked around for four to five hours and we were ready to get back home. As soon as we got to the car we all passed out. Super fun trip though, I would definitely do it again.
Would you guys ever go to Halloween Horror Nights? Are you guys into horror movies or tv shows or horror in general?
Halloween Horror Nights sounds very fun! I have never been, but I have always wanted to. I think it is really cool how they can transform the entire park into a whole new place for the night.
