Leah Week 8 - The Melting Pot

I recently went to eat at “The Melting Pot” for the first time and I loved it. If you don’t know, “The Melting Pot” is a restaurant that’s near the beach in Boca. All the food is served with some kind of sauce to dip it into. For starters and main course, there are dips such as cheese and oil, and for dessert there are lots of different kinds of chocolate.

Unfortunately, it’s a pretty expensive restaurant, so my friends and I decided to only go there for dessert. We ordered a chocolate dip that is called a Yin Yang because it is a combination of milk and dark chocolate. There were so many delicious options we were given to eat with the dip: strawberries, bananas, pineapple, oreo covered marshmallows, pound cake, brownies, and waffles. When the waiter first brought out the whole dessert, it didn’t seem like a lot, but after eating it, we were feeling so sick and bloated. It was definitely worth it though!

Not only is the food very fancy, the actual restaurant is too. We walked through to where the tables are and saw beautiful grey curtains that covered every table. You could close the curtains or leave them open, whatever you wish. The lighting is a bright yellow in a large, dark room and you can hear the excited chatter of people and see the smoke coming from the delicious dips. The feel that you get from stepping into the restaurant and taking it all in is the same feeling you get from biting into a strawberry covered in hot, melty chocolate.

This is definitely a really fun experience and an amazing restaurant that I would recommend. Have you been to “The Melting Pot”, and if so, what did you think of it? Did you love it as much as me, or think it’s not so great?

  2. I have been to the melting pot twice in my life. Both times I have been there I was very young (around 7 and 8 years old), so I don't remember much. The first time I went it was my mom's birthday, and all I remember was dipping broccoli in the cheese fondue. It was a unique and fun experience to say the least.

  3. I have been to the melting pot a few times. Normally I only go to dessert there, but one time I went for the full meal. I think it is very unique idea for a restaurant. I enjoy going there as well, however I have to make sure I don't eat too much in the appetizer and entree part of the meal so I can save room for dessert.

  4. I have never been to the melting pot, but after reading your description of the dessert you had there I am definitely going! It looks so good, is it really that expensive? I really want to go now, I keep picturing the chocolate and myself dipping all those different desserts into it, mmmmm.

    1. It's not too expensive if you go with friends and just for dessert, like I did.

  5. I have never been to the melting pot before. I do recall ever even hearing about it before this. It does actually look really good though. I think I am going to have to try it soon. That dessert looks so good. It looks like a great restaurant for a birthday dinner.

  6. I feel like the melting pot is extremely overrated. The food is good but its mainly about the spectacle. You pay a lot to cook the food yourself when you can do it at home for half the price.

  7. I have to say, as I read about the Melting Pot, I got distracted by how descriptive your writing is. I felt as if I were there with all different aromas, sounds, and sights. That was really awesome!

  8. I have only been to the Melting Pot once when I lived in California for one of my best friends' birthdays, and until now I always thought it was something only in California. (I didn't think the Melting Pot was a franchise)
