Hannah Shinder Week 11- What do I want to do

As we are slowly approaching our senior year of high school, we all need to start deciding about college. Recently, I have been thinking about what colleges to tour and what type of area I want to be living in.

This past month I went to New York to not only see my family but to also tour a college that was very interested in me for athletics purposes. As I sat down with my mom going to register to take the tour they ask the question: “What major do you want to pursuit”. There I go with my “uh oh”, since I have mixed emotions. There are 3 sections of me that I see myself majoring in, which include: media production, sports nutrition, and media communication. This school was so small that they don’t even have an undecided option since they sort of want you to know what you want to major in. After staring at the screen for a few seconds, I look at my mom and say “I have no idea”. Well, in the end, I clicked the option for media communication with a lot of uncertainty.

Well, many may be asking, so why are you writing about this right now. Well, the answer is because I am trying to figure out my summer right now. I have made an agreement with my mom that I can go on a teen tour if I do a summer program at a college. So now I am again staring at the screens of many different college summer programs wondering what major program do I want to do this summer. As I scroll through the different options, some seem more interesting than others, but all seem relatively enjoyable.

Ultimately, I think that I will end up doing a Tulane summer program and go on a teen tour to Europe. On this summer program, I will be furthering my education about one of the topics. This also makes it look very good on my resume, since one of my top schools to attend is Tulane. I hope that this can help the admission team at Tulane understand my desire for attending the school.

Discussion Question: What are your plans for the summer?

Comments

  1. I don't really know what my plans are for this Summer, one possibility would maybe be going on Seminar to travel to Israel for six weeks with my camp friends through a program ran by my old camp. But, for right now, I just plan to make my summer very fun and filled with adventure.

  2. This summer, like every other summer, my family and I will be going to Israel. We might also be going on another trip to somewhere either in Asia or Europe. Towards the end of the summer, I am planning on doing a summer medicine program but haven't fully committed to it yet.

  3. I don't really have any plans for my summer yet, but I know my dad wants me to do a college program this summer. I did one last summer that i hated in the beginning, but ended up loving. Hopefully next summer I'll have a similar experience.
