Ben Nikpour - Week 9: My Love for Harry Potter
I have no clue why I have not dedicated a blog post to the most important thing in my life, Harry Potter. Harry Potter has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. When I was in grade school, I read the Harry Potter series for the first time. From the moment I laid my eyes on the first words of the beautifully written book, “Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone”, I knew I was in love. Since then, I have read all the books multiple times and have seen each movie about a thousand times. Although the movies do not compare to the books, watching the movies brought my imagination to life. I remember screaming and crying to my mom when she would not let me see the last Harry Potter movie in theaters in 2012. I stopped reading the series for a few years, but as soon as I got reintroduced to them, my passion came back to me.
I not only read the books and watch the movies, but I also collect tons of specialty items from the series. I have a profound collection of first edition books, collectible cards, movie props, and many other goods from the franchise. A few weeks ago, I also visited the new Harry Potter store on Broadway Street in NYC. The store was magnificent. I felt like I was in heaven when I walked in. I ran up and down the graceful spiral staircase that reflected the staircase seen directly in the movie. I felt like I was in Hogwarts in real life. I am excited to return to the store this weekend.
The most exciting recent news about Harry Potter is that they are releasing a 20th-anniversary film. Almost all the central cast members are returning for the release of the new film, “Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts”. Today, all over social media, people were posting the exciting news. Emma Watson, who played Hermione in the movies, posted on her Instagram to break the news. The posts by Watson were especially remarkable, to me at least, because Emma Watson has moved away from the film industry and has also stopped posting as much on social media. The film comes out on the first of January, 2022; I will be counting down the days till the film is released. To prepare for the once-in-a-lifetime event, I am going to the Harry Potter World in Universal Studios. The last time I went, I was in first grade; I barely remember the trip. The trip will be an exciting addition to my Harry Potter journey.
Harry Potter has been there for me through my entire childhood into my teenage years. I will never let my love for the series go, even when I am 100 years old.

Have you read the Harry Potter series? Which book in the series is your favorite? If you still have not read it, would you consider it?
I read Harry Potter in middle school and I also loved it! The story is simply just a wonderful escape from life into a magical world.
ReplyDeleteA few months ago, for the first time, I watched the first Harry Potter movie but, I didn't enjoy it. Many of my friends insisted that I continue watching the series because the first movie isn't that good but I just couldn't do it because I simply didn't connect with it. I have never read any of the Harry Potter books in the series and don't think I will, for now.
ReplyDeleteI love Harry Potter! After I watched the movies last year I fell in love. Then, I read the books and fell even more in love with the series. My favorite book is definitely the Deathly Hallows and my favorite movie is either Prisoner of Azkaban or Deathly Hallows Pt 1.
