Ariella Green Week 8: Our Terrible Weather
Ariella Green Week 8: Our Terrible Weather
Don’t ya hate when the weather in Florida is just gross?
This past week, after coming back home from the beautiful weather in New York, I was hit with heat and humidity. The weather here can never make up its own mind. One second Florida decides to rain, the next it stops completely, and lastly it chooses to drizzle. I find our weather season is just so unpredictable.
Tuesday morning, my first day back at school, I woke up to my room being cold just how I like it. I debated with myself whether or not I should stay in bed or be at school on time. It took a lot of courage, but I got out of bed. After I got ready, I began walking to my car. It was pretty humid out. Just when I begin to turn into the school it begins to rain. Even though the Rebbe says that rain is a blessing, I still don’t like to get wet when I am trying to go into school. Because of the weather, I was forced to leave my painting inside my car to prevent it from getting ruined. I should’ve had my umbrella in my car, but I don’t know where I last placed it. As soon as I made it near the playground, the rain began to pour down even harsher. I came to class damp and unhappy. In the future, I should remember to keep my umbrella and a jacket in my car for emergencies.
In the afternoon as I was walking to my car, I’m sure most of you can agree with me, that it’s like a workout because of how much you sweat.
This is not the type of weather you hear about when you are deciding whether you should make a visit to Florida. The travel agencies make you believe that it’s always sunny, and everyone is always at the beach. In fact, we are always hot outside, and freezing inside because the thermostat is most likely between 71-73 degrees.
In New York, I got the chance to wear sweaters and all the things that I never get to wear down here. We have very few good days in Florida where the weather is just perfect, and hopefully will be experiencing it soon.
What are your thoughts about our weather? What kind of weather do you prefer to live in?
Being from Chicago, I have a much stronger appreciation for Florida weather. In Chicago, there are only two seasons. Winter and summer. The weather for nine months of the year consists of freezing and strong winds and cold rain. It also snows. A lot. So long story short, when it comes to weather, I would take a Florida winter over a Chicago winter any day.
ReplyDeleteWhen I lived in New Jersey, I thought the Florida weather was incredible. Vacations to Florida were the best because I got to experience the beautiful weather. Now that I live in Florida, I think the exact opposite. I hate the weather here. It is always either too hot and humid or pouring rain. I miss the sweater weather of the Northeast, and I miss the snow.
