Adi Chaham week 8: Drive-throughs

Today, as I was sitting in my car in the Starbucks drive through waiting for my vanilla bean frappuccino, I thought to myself, I love drive throughs.

Drive throughs are such a great invention. Not only can you stay in your car and don’t have to interact with anyone, you can even go in pajamas because no one sees you. Drive throughs are also super quick and easy and you don’t have to wait in line for a long time waiting for your food. Drive throughs are also super efficient. You just order your food really quickly and by the time you get to the window, you pay, and get your food.

So, if drive throughs are so good and efficient, why aren’t there any pizza drive throughs? Or pasta? Or even ice cream, or yogurt?

Personally, I would go to all these.

Imagine being able to get your favorite pizza without leaving the car or being able to go through a carvel or menchies drive-through. I would love that!

Nowadays, places with drive throughs are super successful. For example, the McDonalds, Chick Fil-A, and Starbucks lines are all so long and therefore, are more successful. So if places make more money and are so successful having drive throughs, why not make other drive throughs?

Now of course, just like everything in life, there are downsides to drive-throughs. The lines could be super long which could be super annoying. On Friday, I went to starbucks at around 3:00pm and waited over 30 minutes for a hot chocolate because the line was so long. So if Starbucks drive-throughs take a long time, imagine how long pizza or pasta drive-throughs would take. Personally, no matter how long, I would still go.

What are your thoughts on drive throughs? Do you think they should have pasta, pizza, or ice cream drive throughs? What's your favorite drive-through place? What drive throughs do you think they should have?

  1. I love drive-thrus. They are super convenient when you're either in a hurry or are just really hungry. Personally, I think that if there were drive-thrus for non-fast food, then most restaurants would go out of business which would lead to society being more lazy. Although, I do think that frozen yogurt drive-thrus would be sick.

  2. I love drive-thrus, but I hate the long lines. I can sometimes be impatient, and when I'm waiting for a drink or food, my patience is even lower. The downside to having fancier drive-thrus, like pizzas and pastas, are because those foods are messier and take a lot more time to prepare. It's significantly harder to eat pasta in the car compared to French fries. My favorite drive-thru is Starbucks, but when it's not really crowded.
