Rosalie Weiss- Week 4- Squid Game Review (spoilers kinda)
Netflix just came out with a new show called Squid Game, and its a big hit. The popular show, written by Hwang Dong-hyuk, was released on September 17, 2021. The show follows 456 heavily indebted players as they compete in a series of children's games for a chance to win 45.6 billion won. The losers of each game are eliminated, ultimately leaving one player left standing. At first, the players are excited to participate in the games until they learn that elimination results in death. This is not well received by the players, who were unaware of the game's deadliness when agreeing to play. Even after this, many players still wished to continue playing as they saw their lives in the real world to be just as cruel and unforgiving as the games.
An amazing part of Squid Game is the amount of foreshadowing throughout the show. The winner, the person behind the game, and many players’ deaths are all foreshadowed in the early episodes. This, along with the many other hints to the secrets of the show, make Squid Game extremely fun to watch. When you do watch it, be sure to watch it in the Korean audio with subtitles to translate. The true emotion of the show can only be portrayed in its original audio.
After finishing the show, I can confidently say that Squid Game is one of the best shows to come out of Netflix. It is suspenseful, intelligent, funny, and I would strongly recommend it to anyone who hasn’t seen it already.
The only problem I had with the show was the marble game. The marble game was absolutely brutal, and I can’t even express how heartbreaking that scene was. Ali deserved so much better.
Who did you want to win?

I loved this show! Although it was very dark and disturbing at parts, it was still very interesting to watch. I wanted Sae-Byeok, Player 067, to win. She was one of my favorite characters along with Ji-Yeon, Player 240.
ReplyDeleteEveryone is watching this show, but I just can't get into it. I really dislike watching dubbed shows, and I don't watch with CC so I don't think I will ever watch this show. Although from all the clips I've seen on TikTok it seems very good.
