Michael Hakim Week 5 - My Dog, Becca (2008-2021)
When I sat back and thought about what I wanted to write my blog about this week, it didn’t take long for me to settle on a topic. Today, I will be talking about my dog, Becca, who just passed away on Friday, October 15th, 2021. She was the best dog I have ever owned, and life truly isn’t the same without her.
I got Becca for my 4th birthday as a present, and she was truly the best present I have ever gotten. I know “Becca” is a bit of a unique name for a dog - in fact, my mom came up with it. I remember the day I first saw her as a little boy. From the first day, I instantly knew that I found a new best friend.
I know that every single dog owner says that their dog is the best, or that their dog is the cutest. But I truly believe that my dog, Becca, had the whole package. She was the kindest dog I have ever met - her kindness is part of the reason why she was loved by so many. Anytime someone would come into my house, she would instantly make them feel at home. She just loved people in general.
My dog, Becca, was also so well behaved. She was reserved and chill, but playful and spunky when she needed to be. It was always such a joy having Becca around. She was my partner for watching sports, and my companion whenever I was studying. Every day when I would come home from school, she would greet me at the door. She would always make my day brighter. She always loved playing fetch with her tennis ball; she was so smart that she would often throw the ball to herself when she was bored.
It’s been tough to move on from Becca. Just yesterday we got rid of her cage, and that was really tough on me. I will make sure to never forget her. Though I think I am ready for a new dog soon, I really don’t think that there is ever going to be an animal that will replace Becca.
