Avital Horowitz Week 4 - Why do we get scared ?
Here is the perfect example; I have always been deadly afraid of spiders. The only thing is, is that I have never known why. Yeah, they are gross eight legged bugs and they are just creepy looking, but why am I so scared of them. I have never had a super traumatic moment in my life that had to do with spiders. I never had a scarring moment in my past that made spiders evil for the rest of my life. I have just always been so afraid of them and I have never known. why. My fear of spiders is so bad that I have slept on the couch in my living room multiple times because there happened to have been a spider in my bedroom. So yeah, spiders are definitely my biggest fear. But why? What made me so scared of them in the first place? I guess it is just an unanswerable question. What is one thing you are scared of and have never known why?

Planes are so scary to me. I start panicking every time I fly for no reason. My irrational fear did not start because of any past trauma, I just started becoming paranoid out of nowhere.
ReplyDeleteOften our fears are based in the unknown. Spiders seem scary, because you never know whether it's one of the dangerous kinds or not. I've gotten past my fear of spiders somehow, though I'm not sure how. I'm not super scared of too many things, but I definitely have my moments.
