Atara Berkower - Week 5 - Family Weekend at Maryland

 Family Weekend at Maryland

Visiting Maryland for the annual family weekend was an experience that I was lucky to have as a high school student. My sister is a freshman at the University of Maryland and my whole family came to visit her. We arrived on campus to pick my sister up from her dorm on Friday afternoon. We spent the day shopping in Baltimore. On Friday evening, we went to the Hillel for dinner, where we had a large dinner with all the other families who were there. There were around 500 people visiting the college and at dinner with us. It was a large Jewish social scene that weekend, where I saw some of my friends whom I went on my Israel summer trip. I got to meet many people my age, who are interested in going to the University of Maryland. On Saturday, my sister gave me a tour of the campus and showed me where each building was located. We walked four miles around the campus! I could not imagine walking that distance daily just to get to class! On Saturday night, I went to topgolf with my friends. When I got back to campus, I went to the Hillel for sushi. Sunday was a fun day because my family drove to Washington DC. We walked around the national mall, preceding Georgetown. Georgetown is a city with many large shops. I got to go to my favorite store, Aritzia, which was great because they do not have this store anywhere in Florida. Overall, family weekend at Maryland was an amazing experience of the school. I am looking forward to applying there in the future. Have you ever had the experience college? If so where? Are you interested in going there?

  1. I have never experienced college, but I will be visiting some soon. That sounds like a nice trip, I miss Maryland. University of Maryland sounds like a great school, and a good choice if you decide to go there.
