Ariella Green Week 7: The Airport

Ariella Green Week 7: The Airport

Don’t ya hate going to the airport?

I absolutely can not stand going to the airport. As I’m sure most of you know, I am very organized and like to plan out everything. When things don’t go according to the plan, it stresses me out.

Thursday morning, I assumed I would have an easy experience flying from PBI to JFK on JetBlue airlines. Little did I know, there would be many little bumps along the way that I had to deal with while trying to catch my flight.

First, we arrive at the airport at around 10:30 for our 11:45 flight. I personally believe that you should always give yourself enough time at the airport, so you don’t have to rush at the gate or if you want to make a purchase. We also had to face the challenge of finding somewhere to park, which is nearly impossible sometimes. After searching for a while, we found the spot 2 N 21.

You may be thinking that things are going pretty smooth so far, but they start to get worse. We began to head to TSA pre-check because my cousin has it, but my mom and I did not have the correct boarding passes. My cousin then abandons us, and we have to go to ticketing and the baggage drop off. We are frantically trying to check in, get boarding passes, and drop off my mom's luggage. At first, we thought we were only going to check one bag, until they told us we had purchased tickets that do not allow carry ons. When we purchased the tickets, we assumed everyone would be able to take a carry on bag. If we went to the gate without having a printed boarding pass, we never would have checked in our bags, and security would have seized them.

After all of this luggage chaos, we went back to security, but we couldn’t go to pre-check with my cousin, so we had to wait on the regular line. Thankfully, it went pretty fast. Now it’s around 11:00, and we wanted to grab a cup of coffee to take on the plane, but the line was long and there was no time.

We arrived at the gate, thinking we’d be able to board, but we had to wait until everyone else boarded. Finally, we board and head to our seats. We sat in Row 9, which I never recommend to anyone. The seats were terrible and would not recline because they were in front of the emergency exit. Before our flight, we purchased our assigned seats, and it did not say that those seats were in front of the exit seats. One of the attendants even said it was the worst possible seat on the plane.

Moral of the story, always plan out your flights. At least we made it to New York safely.

Also, Hannah and I were on the same flight.

Question: What was your worst flight experience?

  1. That is so funny that you say the flight was bad because my mom and I also throughout it was terrible. The plane was so gross that it felt gross to touch anything in our area.

  2. I have a very love hate relationship with the airport. I love traveling more than anything else in the world, but I am terrified of planes. Going through the airport gets me excited for my trip, but also makes me nervous for the upcoming flight. I often fly the route you flew on (PBI to JFK), and I think I have ran into a problem every time I have flown. My worst experience flying was a few months ago which I wrote about in one of my other blogs.
