Solomon Holzhauer- Week 2- New York to Florida

Recently, there has been a tremendous amount of people that are moving to Florida. This has been through the last 10 months, and the people moving are especially from New York. You might ask, why are people suddenly moving to Florida? Well, thats what I am about to tell you.

A big reason why people are moving here, besides the beautiful weather here, is because of Covid. In the last 10 months, there have been more than 33 thousand New Yorkers that have came to Florida. Some reasons were because they have to be masked up inside or when conditions were worse, some indoor places weren't open, so they thought it was more worth their paycheck to be somewhere you can always do something fun when being outside. I know from past experience because I moved back here from New York, and let me tell you, you do not want to be outside during the year, and you definitely don’t want to be outside during the harsh winters. Why you may ask? Unless you like below 30 degree weather on good days and or under 0 on bad days... that is why.

You do not realize how lucky you are to live in such a climate as Florida. Ive never picked up an ice shovel or rake before moving to New York because of all the seasons. That is one cool thing though, to be able to have the seasons, just not when its harshly cold every single day, and when you need to either shovel your driveway to get the snow off and or rake the leaves every other day because it is an endless cycle.

Would you rather live in Florida or New York? Let's say this was during the times of Covid, would you change your mind? And let's say NYC wasn't a choice, would that change your mind too?

  1. I would also rather live in Florida. The Covid-19 virus has shown me how great it is to live in a warm place like Florida. I love living in Florida right next to the beach because it always gives me something to do on a warm day. I can go to the beach, go on a boat, and do watersports outside. It is also so great that Florida is fully running and nothing is shut down. It does not make sense for a state in the United States to be shut down, we need to be living life.

  2. I hate the heat. It is the worst. I have been saying I want to move out of Florida since I was a kid, and yet here I am, maybe 40 minutes from where I grew up. If given the choice, I've always said I'd rather live in NY (my brother does!), but I never leave. So maybe the IDEA of NY appeals to me more than actually living there.

  3. I love Florida. No matter what, I'd always want to live here. This is my home. From the beaches to the weather, to the beautiful cities, you truly cannot beat Florida. After traveling a lot this summer, it has made me even further appreciate Florida.

  4. I kind of disagree with you. I hate warm weather, and it's warm here year-round. I haven't been able to stand the heat since I moved here. If it gets to cold, you can put on a jacket or a sweatshirt. If it gets too hot outside, what can you do? Nothing. And that's why it's better to live in a colder place.
