Liam Meldung, Week 2 - The School Year After...
The new school year has started, and now that we have been in school for more than a few weeks, I don't want to speak for everyone but, maybe we can start to see how this year is going to be hard! Covid really messed up schools and students everywhere. Since being on zoom and learning from home, students have developed a habit of not learning everything to the best of their ability. This is because all of last year we had our notes for everything. We could use them for tests to guide us, and we always knew that they were there as references for our use, so we may have felt too comfortable and forgotten how to study and learn something to the point where it’s stuck in our minds.
As we have come back this year and have begun our courses and taken a few exams, I can say for myself that I have been off. Has anyone else felt that way at all? I feel like I’ve been procrastinating way more often than I did before, doing worse on tests, and not completely comprehending all the material that is being taught to me. Now we have to turn in a lot of our homework the next day, whereas last year we had the day it was assigned, and another whole day to be able to turn it in. On zoom, I've felt like I have built a way smaller attention span and now have a hard time focusing on the teacher and the information. Coming into this year with such a small attention span, has definitely affected my full understanding of our work, which then affects my test scores, and overall grades.
I came up with a strategy for myself. I have made sure that for every class, I wrote down my homework and wrote when it's due, this way I know when I have to do it and what is priority for the day. I also make sure I begin studying for a test a couple days before the exam so I can go over everything, and make sure I have the time to go ask my teacher for help if I need any. Since I have been having difficulty understanding everything quickly, I have made sure that I asked any question I had to my teachers, and made sure I completely understood!
Does anyone else feel the same? Is there anything that anyone else can think of that could help me and anyone else that is feeling the same stay on track to becoming successful in our studies this year?

I feel the exact same way. Although I've always procrastinated doing homework, and studying for test I do feel that it's worse this year. Personally, I've just been trying to do finish my homework as soon as possible, that way I don't leave it to the last minute.
