Ariella Green Week 2: Wasted Food
Don’t ya hate when food goes bad or wasted. There are some people in this world that are not mindful of this type of problem. Sometimes food goes bad intentionally or unintentionally, and we are not perfect, but we should try and never waste food. I personally hate having to throw out that avocado in the fridge that turned brown because I forgot to eat it. The other day I went out to dinner for Italian food. Well unfortunately, I left my leftovers in the car all night and my food spoiled. Instead of using my leftovers for another meal, I had to throw them out.
Fortunately, most of the people I know have never experienced what it’s like to be hungry and not have enough food in their home. All the time I see young children throw out perfectly good food. Why do they throw it out? The answer is because they just don’t like it or want to eat it. I don’t love to eat every food, but if that’s what’s been given to me to eat, I eat it. In some impoverished households, if the food goes bad they might not be able to buy more or they’ll go hungry.
I am so thankful that I have a balanced meal on my plate three times a day because so many people in the world are not as fortunate. I feel terrible if I discover that something I could’ve eaten for a meal has gone bad. To prevent food from going bad, I can do my best to keep my fridge organized, and always do my best to prepare meals with food that spoils first.
Do you have any solutions that can help prevent food from being wasted?

I agree 100% that wasted food is just awful. Coming from South Africa, I have seen what real poverty and starvation looks like for so many people living there.
ReplyDeleteI love that you have gratitude for the things you have. I have the issue that sometimes the food gets pushed behind something else and I forget it's there. SO frustrating! Additionally, most of my family will only eat leftovers for a day, and I cook huge portions, so I end up eating the majority of leftovers myself. I do it, though, because I hate the waste of food!
